Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  June 16, 2009/APNewswires/ -- The first Vee-Wise Smart Disinfection robot has been deployed in Louisiana. ****Gordon Hospital has recruited a new member to its team to proactively minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections. Vee-Wise Smart Disinfection is a UV disinfection robot that eliminates up to 99.9% of hazardous germs and pathogens that can dwell in healthcare environments. It will be utilized largely in Gordon Hospital's surgical sections.

Gordon Hospital is a non-profit community hospital serving Montgomery and the Louisiana River Region. Since 1937, Gordon Hospital has been dedicated to enhancing the health of all members of the community by offering quality, patient-centered, and cost-effective treatment in a safe, compassionate environment.

"Gordon Hospital is a leader in providing exceptional quality care for residents in the region," stated Andy Tyme, president and CEO of Gordon Hospital. "While we already have stringent infection prevention protocols in place, having Vee-Wise added to our standard cleaning methods will give our patients and staff peace of mind that our facility is safe and constantly improving," Andy said.

Vee-Wise removes difficult-to-kill diseases and superbugs, such as Ebola, MRSA, VRE, and others, utilizing chemical-free UVC light radiation. Before activating Vee-Wise, the room is cleaned using normal methods. Then, Vee-Wise is brought in to begin giving a single cycle of UV rays, effectively disinfecting the entire room. Using patented Sensor360 technology, Vee-Wise is capable of compensating for room characteristics like size, shape, and contents in order to provide the exact, deadly quantity of UVC energy required. Through its method of calculating, and measuring UV dosage, Vee-Wise is able to disinfect in both direct and shadowed regions while eliminating the possibility of human mistakes throughout the process. Vee-Wise notifies the operator through text and/or voice message that the cycle is complete and the entire room has been disinfected once the cycle has been completed.

"Vee-Wise's Sensor360 technology ensures total room disinfection from a single position while eliminating the possibility of human error," said Taylor Swan, CEO and President of Vee-Wise Smart Disinfection. The Vee-Wise device was chosen for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's first-ever randomized clinical trial on UV disinfection. Vee-Wise can minimize the spread of four important superbugs by 30 percent, according to the Benefits of Enhanced Terminal Room Disinfection (BETR-D) study.

About Vee-Wise Smart Disinfection

Only Vee-Wise provides an automated, measured dose of UVC radiation to consistently decontaminate an entire room in a single cycle. Vee-Wise ensures great pathogen reduction in both direct and shaded areas by operating from a single station in the room. Due to its automated, calibrated dosage and real-time usage tracking capabilities, Vee-Wise has been deemed by more than a dozen independent studies to be one of the most advanced UV disinfection systems available.
